National Golf Club at Tantallon

Ft. Washington, Maryland

The club opened for play in 1965. It is — first and foremost — quintessential Ted Robinson golf — a challenging course that never plays quite the same from day to day. You'll be challenged to use every club in your bag. This is classic golf, requiring you to think your way around the golf course — a welcome departure from modern “cookie-cutter” golf courses. You can't simply step up on the tee and bomb it. You have to pick and choose your angles on the course. The terrain is rolling with substantial elevation changes. The greens are undulating and require pin-point accuracy. From the first tee you'll notice how tight the tee shot feels. One of our best “distractions” is the view from the 16th tee box. On a clear day you may catch a glimpse of the Washington Monument. That gives you an idea just how close we're located to our nation's capital. The course plays about the same from season to season, perhaps playing best in the fall. You're able to enjoy lower temperatures and take in magnificent fall colors.
