The Golfe and Meeting Masters events have given me the opportunity to network with a variety of meeting planners and industry professionals from across the country and it doesn’t hurt that we have the same passion for golf. Golf helps bridge relationships at all kinds of levels, from CEO’s to suppliers and meeting planners to convention service managers. Once you are all exposed to the same daunting task of competing on that golf course everyone is on the same team. Just like putting on that great meeting, you need everyone working together for the success of the group. Happy New Year, I wanted to share my thoughts on how MILO and Meeting Masters has helped Birmingham.  I have been participating personally since 1996 and since that time have only missed maybe one or two MILO’s and of course have attended many Meeting Masters as well as MILI.  The relationships that I have developed as a result are priceless.  Birmingham is now regarded as a place to do business with.  We have booked numerous meetings and incentive groups either from direct leads associated with MILO or through referrals from the contacts that I have established with MILO.  Had it not been for the relationships and the support of The Golfe organization by allowing us to host MILI and assisting us with FAM’s most of the customers we have encountered from MILO would have never come to Birmingham.  If you are looking for the perfect place to meet good people, book business and have a great time doing it, MILO, Meeting Masters and MILI has it all.  Thanks for making these years some of the most memorable I have experienced in my 30 years in the hospitality business.

I truly value the networking opportunities provided when I attend a MILO or Meeting Masters golfing event. Experiencing golf resorts is a perfect way to enjoy the game with industry friends old and new. I always pick up a few good golfing tips along the way.

Recently I discussed a booking opportunity with a hotel partner at Meeting Masters. She immediately got on the phone and told her sales manager to expect my RFP which I forwarded that evening. Within 24 hours I had a full proposal from that hotel and my client was totally wowed. We went to contract the next week and my group will now be holding their 2014 annual convention at the Atlantis Casino Resort & Spa! Having quality face to face time with the hotel sales director made all the difference in creating a win-win for my client and the hotel.

A few years ago at a MILO event in Sonoma the Sonoma CVB and the Doubletree offered a booking incentive for the client and the meeting planner (me) which led to another booking at that hotel.

So here’s to 2013…may MILO and the Booking Gods Thrive!!
